The Board of Trustees of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria has described the claim of the sale, purchase, and allocation of land to subscribers in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja and its environs as false and misleading information, adding that it is untrue and that the general public should disregard the false allegation.
The church authority noted that their attention has been drawn to the allegation, which some news outlets have also erroneously published as false information linking the church to the land transactions.
However, the BoT of the church has come out to duly inform the general public, especially residents of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and the media, that the church is not involved in any way with the purported dealings in the business of commercial land acquisitions and sales within FCT and environs.
The Nigerian Tribune also gathered that the church had earlier informed all the subscribers of the land transactions in question by the Directors and Management of the Incorporated Entities supervising the Land transactions, viz., Fourmodel Estate Ltd., Karismata Estate Ltd., and McPherson Estate Limited, that the church is not in any way involved in the management of the respective estates, in receipt of a letter dated August 10, 2021.
Stressing further its stand, the church, in a press release signed and made available to the Nigerian Tribune by the National Secretary of the church, Reverend Yomi Oyinloye, noted that the church, through the members of the incorporated Trustees and Board Members of the Foursquare Church in Nigeria, are not directors, owners, or involved in the management of the respective estates, adding that the companies are separate entities.
Oyinloye noted that, therefore, it is clear that those who may have or are still using the name of the church in relation to land transactions are doing so without the consent or authorization of the church’s authority and that linking the church with any such transactions is preposterous and misleading.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the church as a law-abiding entity shall not transact or authorise any person, persons, or entities to transact on its behalf any business(s) that are or are not in tandem with its statutory aims and objectives.
“The Incorporated Trustees of the Church further state unambiguously that it has never engaged or intends to engage, mandate, or authorise anyone or entity whatsoever to carry on the business of land acquisitions and sales in the Federal Capital Territory and its environs on its behalf.
“Any such transaction or transactions engaged with these individuals or entities prior to this notice or after this is manifestly being done without the consent or authorisation of the Incorporated trustees, and the Church cannot, therefore, be held liable for any loss suffered in the process,” Oyinloye started.
However, the church said it has duly disclaimed itself from any unauthorised transactions relating to land in the FCT and its environs, just as it assured the general public that it has never deviated from or intends to deviate from its lawful statutory aims and objectives as contained in the records of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja.
Oyinloye also advised people to be wary of any dealings or any form of business or land transactions with individuals or entities purportedly in the name of the church, as all legal dealings with the church should be done with the Board of Trustees.
