The African International Documentary Festival Foundation (AFIDFF) has disclosed that it will carry out a medical outreach in Gombe communities and the northeastern part of Nigeria to cater to girls and maternal health.
Speaking with journalists, the former House Leader of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Dr. Rambi Ibrahim Ayala, described the outreach as a significant blessing to Gombe.
He said, “For us from the Northeast, it is a big blessing. Having a medical team. I know for a fact that it takes quite a lot if you’re in the USA to consult Dr. Lawson.
“I mean, you have to pay a huge sum of money to see him, but he is ready to provide medical intervention to those who are in need free of charge,” he said.
He also disclosed that the foundation will provide palliatives to people who are seriously in need of help in the society, as the planned outreach trip is a complete package to alleviate people’s suffering.
“We are making a lot of sacrifices, as I mentioned, not just medical intervention. We’re also providing palliatives to people who are indigent in our society.
“I’m sure there are people out there whose life story will never be the same again when they come in contact with Dr. Lawson and his team.”
Also, a former member of the House of Representatives in Gombe State, Hon. Hamisu Ahmed Mailaitarki, who expressed gratitude for the intervention, said he is happy to interact with the organization coming to Nigeria to render their support, especially in the health sector.
“They’ve been doing it. We have a good track record. This time around, my state where I come from, Gombe State, we’re going to be part of the beneficiaries.
“It’s indeed a very good day for me, and I look forward to situations like this because what is happening in Gombe, Nigeria, and the northern part of the country is something that really needs support.”
The Head of the Medical team and Member of the Southern Hill Church of Christ from the United States, Dr. Bobby Lawson, who disclosed that he has visited West Africa 78 times in 32 years, said his team is trying to use God’s gift to help people that are in need.
“We’re trying to use the gifts that God has given us with medicine to help people that are in need, and maybe with food and maybe even medication, maybe just with some love by hugging them or telling them that we love and care about them.”
“We want to try to be the hands and feet of Jesus to people in another part of the world, and it has been one of the greatest lessons of my life to do that,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Director General of AFIDFF, Malame Mangzha, said the outreach visit is very important as the team consists of doctors and international volunteers from both Africa and the USA coming to Nigeria and also proceeding to Gombe State to conduct a medical outreach.
She said, “Touching Lives and healing the people of Gombe, especially those underserved areas. It is going to be a one-week outreach, and I’m sure that it will make a big impact in the lives of the community and conditions in the state.”
