She said combating the menace of human trafficking, which had increased in sophistication, was the responsibility of all, saying “the fight against trafficking in persons involves the whole of society and whole of government”.
Okah-Donli, made the call when she paid an advocacy visit to a philanthropist and business magnate, Captain Idahosa Okunbo, in his Abuja office.
She lauded Captain Okunbo for the philanthropic work he has been doing, as well as his efforts at reducing youth unemployment in country through his various business investments in Nigeria.
She informed him of the urgent need to involve the organised private sector and well-meaning Nigerians in the fight against human trafficking.
The NAPTIP boss expressed optimism that with the support of the government at all levels and the organised private sector, NAPTIP would be effectively equipped to combat human trafficking.
She also called on all Nigerians to report suspected cases of humantrafficking to NAPTIP for proper investigation and possible prosecution.
Okundo, in his remark, described humantrafficking as an evil and ungodly act that dehumanizes an individual and negatively impacts on a nation.
He further decried the high rate of human trafficking in his home state, Edo, which he described as saddening and promised to be a worthy anti-trafficking ambassador.
He lamented the lack of adequate support which the Agency currently facing and called on the Federal Government, institutions and well-meaning Nigerians to rally round NAPTIP in order to ensure that human trafficking is effectively stamped out of Nigeria.
