Government at all levels have been tasked to intensify efforts on the discovery, nurturing and appreciation of local talents.
The charge was given by Ibadan-based media personality, Alhaji AbdulAkeem Oyetayo Oladimeji, popularly known as MC Handsome.
Oladimeji, who is the convener of “Lowo Ọlọhun Day,” an annual talent celebration event, also called for the establishment of a board or ministry that will oversee talent affairs without any form of bias.
Addressing newmen in preparation for the 2023 edition of the event tagged “Talent Beyond Entertainment Industry,” scheduled for November 12th, he urged the governments not to take talent discovery and appreciation with levity, as it would create more job opportunities for Nigerians.
He said: “Talent is divine. I urge the three tiers of government to work assiduously in discovering more talented citizens and rewarding them hugely.”
On the establishment of the government agency to oversee talent development, Oladimeji said talent discovery shouldn’t be limited to individuals working in offices or artistes but be extended to business owners and artisans such as carpenter, bricklayer, tailor, driver, housekeeper, painter, welder and plumber.
According to him, “establishing such agency will definitely create job opportunities, alleviate poverty, give birth to more talented individuals and bring avalanche of successes to the society at large.”
He equally charged talents not to relent in their efforts but rekindle hope in God the source of talent for a better tomorrow.
