THE Minister of State for Science and Technology, Barrister Mohammed Abdullahi, has said that appropriate technology will be deployed to drive the nation’s economic growth and development.
The minister said this in Abuja at a luncheon organised by the Faculty of Law Class of 1990 of Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, while noting that application of science, technology and innovation (STI) remains critical to the delivery of the Next-Level agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He added that the ministry is playing a pivotal role to ensure that the economy is driven not by commodity, but by science, technology and innovation.
Abdullahi insisted that it was only through this that employment and wealth could be created for the people.
The minister called on elite in the North to enjoin their wards to embrace science subjects, adding that the sciences hold the key to the nation’s future progress.

Abdullahi also called on his law classmates to be ambassadors of science education promotion to enable the North to catch up with the rest of the country.
He commended the Chief Judge of Sokoto State, Justice Saidu Sifawa, for his appointment which he said is a testimony to the hard work and dedication of the law class of 1990 of Usman Danfodiyo University.
The minister further thanked the Governor of Sokoto State, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal for finding him worthy to occupy the position.
Earlier, the Chief Judge of Sokoto State had urged the class members to sustain the relationship.
He stressed the need for them to find out what they could contribute to uplift the Faculty of Law of the Usman Danfodiyo University.
