Parading five members of the gang along with five vehicles recovered from them before newsmen in Abuja yesterday, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command, CP Sadiq Bello said that investigation so far had shown that the wanted Medical Director hailed from Ife Olukotun Community of Yagba East, Kogi state and was the leader of the notorious gang.
Bello disclosed all the arrested members of the gang had confessed to the Police on the various roles they played in the Commission of the crime and were undergoing intensive interrogation at the Command Intelligence and Criminal Investigation Department.
According to him, the arrest of members of the syndicate was a sequel to a reported case of armed robbery incident on a House in Maitama in November 2017 where a BMW X6 Vehicle, large quantities of gold and other Valuables worth millions of naira were carted away by the syndicate.
“Upon the receipt of the report, the Command through the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, commenced discreet investigation which led to the arrest of the five suspects and recovery of the robbed BMW X6 vehicle.

“In the course of the investigation, five vehicles that have their colours changed were recovered out of which four have been identified by their owners who were robbed at different locations within Abuja.
“In addition, four pistols with eight rounds of live ammunition and a face mask concealed in a bag in the office of the run-away Medical Doctor were recovered during the execution of search warrant in the suspect’s hospital.”
The CP stated that on a visit to the Hospital yesterday and the residence of the suspect, his members of the family were still around along with some patients admitted to the Hospital.
He then pleaded with the members of the Public with useful information leading to the arrest of the wanted Medical Doctor to quickly alert the nearest police station.
In a related development, the Command also paraded 13 recovered stolen exotic cars form another gang who specialized in stealing vehicles from where they were parked and sold them at give-away prices to unsuspecting buys in other states of the federation.
The CP who vowed to smoke out visiting vehicles thieves in Abuja and its environs said,”members of the Public are hereby advised to make thorough checks on vehicles by insisting on seeing original copies of the particulars before buying in order not to buy stole vehicles.
