Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has been elected the new chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).
In a meeting of the forum in Abuja on Wednesday night, they also chose Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state as the deputy chairman of the forum.
Speaking at the end of the meeting, Fayemi expressed delight over the confidence reposed in him by the forum.
He observed that they were stepping into the big shoes vacated by the former chairman and Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari.
The Ekiti Governor said his leadership will build on Yari’s commitment to a strong partnership with the federal government.
He noted that he and Tambuwal were unanimously chosen “and we represent Nigeria no matter the political persuasion.”
Fayemi promised to work with development partners for the interest of the country.
