A Chieftain of the New Nigerian People Party (NNPP), Honourable Damilare Abioro, has appealed to the Senate to assist in facilitating some developmental projects into Yewa axis of Ogun State.
The Politician, however, commended the National Assembly members from the axis for moving a motion for the lifting of the ban on supply of petroleum products to the border areas.
Abioro, who made the request in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, said Ogun West Senatorial district is cardinal to the national economic revolution of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The NNPP chieftain explained that Yewa axis of Ogun State is blessed with lots of mineral and natural resources with huge deposit of bitumen and crude oil, among others in the area.
He added that if those resources are tapped into for commercial purposes, it will change the socio-economic activities in the area.
For instance, He said Tongeji Island in Ipokia axis of the State, if well utilized, will give Ogun State the long awaited oil producing state status and as well boost the country’s oil sector.
“let’s thank God that we now have a President for the first time in the history of our country, who is more interested in tapping the resources we have in the country.
“This is a laudable efforts from Tinubu’s administration on how to diversify our economy against the whole dependence on petroleum as the only source of revenue generation.
“With this, I have the firm believe that the National Assembly under your watch will not neglect this untapped opportunities in our areas and as well bring laudable projects capable of turning those resources to wealth and in returns bring developments into our area,” Hon. Abioro stated.
Abioro also commended Tinubu over the formation of his cabinet, especially the appointment of three ministers, including a Yewa son, asking them to justify the confidence reposed in them by working towards achieving the vision of President Tinubu’s administration.
He, however, tasked the national lawmakers from Ogun West Senatorial District to sponsor bills for the commercialization of the mineral and natural resources in the Yewa axis of the State.
