Oyo-Ita, who was represented by the Director, Cabinet Affairs Office, Mrs Georgina Ehurial, gave the advice at the monthly jogging exercise for civil servants in Abuja on Saturday.
While stressing the importance of the regular exercise, the Head of Service said the monthly exercise was good for their healthy living, while urging those who were not part of the monthly exercise to avail themselves this opportunity of benefiting from this laudable gesture.
She further urged the civil servants to ensure participation in the monthly exercise without being forced to do so, saying “regular exercises should be part of our daily routine in order to be physically fit, mentally strong and enjoy healthy living at all times”.
The Head of Service noted that physical exercise would reduce cases of sudden deaths in the country, urging civil servants and Nigerians to make the exercise a regular discipline to burn calories in the body.
She said: “Productivity depends on the state of the body. You need to be fit for effective and efficient discharge of duties in your place of work. Do not allow anybody to either force or push you into coming out every month to participate in the exercise because you are doing it for yourself.
“I urge you all to make use of your various office gyms once in a week to embark on exercise after a very hectic work in the office,” she said.
