Ahead of the February 16, Presidential election, the Maize Farmers Association of Nigeria (MAAN) have thrown their weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari as their candidate for the election.
The National President of MAAN, Alhaji Bello Abubakar who disclosed this during a press conference in Abuja, said that Maize Production has increased under President Buhari from 15 million MT to 20 million MT.
He, however, said that MAAN would deliver 5 million votes for Buhari’s re-election this month.
According to Alhaji Abubakar, “from the year 2015 to 2018, MAAN has increased from 1.2 million to 5 million members across the country. Also, the Association enjoyed a great improvement in extension services which has helped farmers in new farming techniques, hence increase in farmer output.

“Within the first year of participating in the present administration agricultural program, we have been able to acquire 128 numbers of tractors with full farming implements.
“Permit me to give you good news, that the maize production has increased from 15 million metric tons in 2015 to 20 million metric tons in 2018.
He, therefore, said “ladies and gentlemen of the press, one important request I want to make on behalf of the Maize Association of Nigeria (MAAN) is to help us inform Mr President and his administration, that we assure him of 5 million votes of our members across the country and that we appreciate him for creating jobs for the teeming youths and making farming a business.
