The Ekiti State government has reiterated its commitment to partnership with professional bodies towards ensuring efficient service delivery and boosting the internally generated revenue.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital while receiving leaders of the Ado Ekiti branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) led by the Chairman, Mr Kayode Daniel who was on a courtesy visit to his office, the Chairman of the State Internal Revenue Service, Mr Olumuyiwa Ogunmilade said that the state government would continue to partner with the CITN and other professionals towards ensuring that taxation related matters in the state are professionally handled.
Ogunmilade commended the institute for the high level of professionalism exhibited by the body, noting that it had helped to promote good ethics and efficiency in tax administration and practice.
Stressing the cordial relationship between him and the institute, Ogunmilade said that he remained a bonafide member that had continued to contribute his quota to the development of the body and will not relent in his contributions.
The IRS boss however advised the institute to organize regular programmes like seminars and workshops for its members to refresh their knowledge and keep them abreast of current issues on taxation stressing that, “training boosts confidence, enriches knowledge, increase performance, improves skills as well as creates greater efficiency that leads to greater and higher profitability.”
Responding, the chairman of the CITN, Daniel stressed the importance of ensuring professionalism in tax administration, which he said would guarantee efficient service delivery.
He stated further that effective and efficient tax administration will always engender increased revenue to the coffers of government.
Daniel said, ” A well-organized tax system would help taxpayers to understand the situation better and reduce the cost of compliance.”
