The Peoples Democratic Party’s, PDP, candidate for the forthcoming Edo State governorship election, Asue Ighodalo, has promised to bring out the best from the youths in the state through purposeful and people-centric governance if elected into office.
Ighodalo who gave the assurance during his campaign rally at Egor Local Government Area in the state on Monday in Benin said his administration will be committed to harnessing the potentials of the youths for the overall benefit of the people.
“We Will work and bring out the creative potential of our youths in a way that it will benefit all. We don’t need an illiterate who will bring insecurity.
“It’s time to move forward. Ogie and I are very ready to work for you all. So, don’t fear, don’t worry, we’re for you all. Prosperity has come for all.
“Just go out on the 21st and vote early and protect your votes.”, he admonished the people.
Also addressing the mammoth crowd that beseeched the Olua Primary School, the Venue of the campaign rally, the Executive Governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, admonished the people to vote for the candidate of PDP in the election.
Obaseki while maintaining that there is a need for continuous progress and development in Edo noted that he has done his best for the state, adding that Ighodalo would continue from where he will be stopping developmentally, hence the need for the people to reject other candidates for the PDP.
“I have done my best. Ighodalo and Ogie will continue from November 12. We want progress. We want to move forward and not backwards. Looking at the people here, you see a lot of youths.
“I am not surprised because Egor is home to youths. We have the University of Benin and the Benin Technical College.
“September 21 is the most important election in Edo State. Don’t make the mistake, for the sake of continuity, it must be PDP or PDP. Ighodalo is youth-friendly, all the lawyers in his company are young lawyers.
“So, no mistake on the 21st because all the works in Egor local government area are too important to be allowed to stop. Go out early and vote and protect your votes,” he said.
Speaking at Western Boys High School, venue of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area campaign rally of the PDP, Governor Godwin Obaseki, while enumerating some of his administration’s projects in the area, told the people that the party decided to field Ighodalo and Ogie for the election so as to complete any project that may not be completed before November 12th handover date.
Ighodalo on his part solicited for their votes of the people and enjoined them to go all out on the election day to vote and defend their votes.
Hon Iduoriyekemwen, Director General of the PDP Campaign Council, said Ikpoba-Okha is the strongest force of the party, saying that little wonder that PDP invested heavily both in infrastructure and human capital development in the area.
The high points of the twin rallies were the mass defections of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties for the election.
