As part of the quest to change the narratives of women in politics, the Edo North women wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded plans to hold its maiden conference at
Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The small town of Iyamho is the hometown of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the immediate past national chairman of the ruling party who recently declared his intention to vie for the APC senatorial ticket in Edo North.
According to Dame Omua Okpaku, the Edo North APC Woman Leader, the theme of the conference which is scheduled to hold on April 15 is “Strengthening Women Participation in Politics”.
The one day conference is expected to address some of the ills plaguing women participation in local and national politics.

According to Dame Okpaku, the conference is quite timely, insisting that it comes at a time when the rights and privileges of women are the central issues of discussion before the national assembly
The woman leader, who referenced the unresolved 35 percent Affirmative Action policy for women in the national assembly, said “Nigerian women are ready to take their destiny into their own hands and devise ways to empower the womenfolks to take an active part in the governance process.”
Top Edo North APC leaders are billed to attend the landmark conference which will produce policies that radically change the face of politics in the district and in the country at large.
