Speaker, Ebonyi State of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Francis Nwifuru has condemned the alleged attack on journalists by a member representing Afikpo South West Constituency, Nkemka Okoro Onuma and his thugs at the Assembly premises.
The speaker who condemned the action in a strongest possible terms, through his Chief Press Secretary, Leo Ekene Oketa, maintained that the action is never in the character of members of the hallowed chamber.
He, however, assured that the speaker will react more after the commissioner nominees screenings.
His words: “From what I heard because I was not there, what happened is not in the character of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and the speaker has condemned the action of the thugs in a strongest possible terms.

“The speaker is still conducting screening of the commissioner nominees and when he is done, he will react,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to Ebonyi State Governor, Emmanuel Uzor on his part condemned the attack on journalists. He described the attitude exhibited by the lawmaker as recklessness.
“Let me again condemn such recklessness as exhibited by the suspect. As an American resident before, he should have lived above this rascality he showed.”
