Music icon, Evangelist (Prof.) Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi (MFR), has commiserated with fellow music legend, Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, fondly called KSA, over the death of his wife, Honourable (Mrs) Risikat Adegeye, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, describing the news of her death as a rude shock.
Obey, the Chief Commander, as he is fondly called by many, noted that it was indeed a trying period for KSA to have lost one of his wives, just as he expressed his condolence, saying, “I pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort my dear brother, KSA, the children, and the entire family she left behind.”
The evergreen musician, described the deceased as a kindhearted and hardworking woman, adding, “ I recalled that she called me personally that she wanted me to play at the reception of the 70th birthday she organized in Lagos for KSA aside the celebration we had in Ondo, which I granted her. I pray the good Lord to rest her soul in eternal peace.”
He said: “I know what it feels to lose a wife because the same thing happened to me when my wife went to be with the Lord over 10 years ago. I pray God to strengthen KSA because he needs to be strong at this time to be able to play the role of a father and mother to the children of the deceased.”
Obey who has been in London for about two months now for medical attention, had also earlier, congratulated KSA on his 75th birthday on September 22.
In his congratulatory message, Obey noted that, indeed, he and KSA have enjoyed the special grace of God as unique role models and music legends for decades and that the special grace can only be achieved through the help of God Almighty.
“As you achieved the milestone of 75 years, I pray that God will renew your strength and continue to bless you beyond measures, my dearest brother,” he prayed.
Meanwhile, KSA has announced the burial arrangements of his late wife.
Speaking with newsmen last Thursday, KSA noted that plans have been concluded to honour his late wife with a befitting burial, saying, “The deceased would be laid to rest on September 29, after a lying-in-state, while the celebration of life would come later.”
He, however, lamented that the vacuum created by his late wife would be hard to fill, describing her late wife as an angel. “I thank God for everything. He knows more than every one of us. It was a big loss for me and my family. It is a trying time. She was more than a wife to me. She was an angel that I was always calling my baby. She was a wife and mother that every good man and child must-have.
“With heavy heart, we announce that she would be buried on Wednesday, September 29 after lying in state. She will be buried at Ebony funeral homes in Lagos. I appreciate everyone that stands with us at this time. Such an occurrence will not happen to you”, KSA said.
Also, the son of the deceased, Mr. George Adegeye, said her mother’s death came as a rude shock, adding that he was yet to believe his mother would not be seen again.
“It was a painful experience. I’m yet to believe my mother is no more. We will bury her on September 29, while the celebration of life would be on December 19. We cannot embalm her for that long because she has given an instruction that whenever she goes home she should not be embalmed, and that is why we have to bury her first, while other things will come later,” he added.
