Don’t sell products to unknown customers, NAFDAC warns chemical marketers

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has cautioned marketers of industrial and agrochemicals in Kebbi State against selling their products to unknown customers.

The warning was issued during a one-day sensitization and awareness parley organized by NAFDAC in Birnin Kebbi.

State Coordinator Muyideen Folorunsho Suleiman emphasized the importance of marketers being “listed” and obtaining a listing certificate from the agency. He highlighted the potential dangers associated with the handling of agro and industrial chemicals, including fertilizers and pesticides, which contain hazardous components such as ammonia and potassium hydroxide.

Suleiman stressed that marketers have a responsibility to ensure the safe handling and distribution of these chemicals, and to prevent their sale to unauthorized individuals. He commended the marketers for their participation in the parley and urged them to comply with NAFDAC regulations.

The event aimed to educate marketers on the risks and hazards associated with unregulated marketing of chemicals. Assistant Chief Regulatory Officer Ahmad Aliyu Aji delivered a lecture on the subject, explaining that many marketers were unaware of government regulations on their products.

The Chairman of Fertilizer Marketers, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Ciroma, appreciated NAFDAC for the sensitization and promised that members would adhere to the regulations on marketing their products.
