The chairman, ‘One Youth, Two Skills’ Entrepreneurship Scheme, Prof. Chinedu Onyeizugbe, has lauded the master trainers and trainees in the ongoing skill acquisition initiative of the Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Youth Development in collaboration with Unizik Business School (UBS).
Onyeizugbe gave the commendation during a monitoring exercise across some select Entrepreneurship Development Institutes (EDIs) in Anambra Central Senatorial District, on Wednesday.
It was learnt that the training exercise kicked off on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, with a 2-day Workshop for Entrepreneurship Development Institutes (EDIs) under the Scheme.
Onyeizugbe, during the monitoring, said the exercise was to ensure that EDIs are keeping to the laid-down standards in terms of implementation of the curriculum, which, he said, was developed by Unizik Business School. He said the monitoring was also to ensure that the resource persons are qualified, and can spur the beneficiaries to turn their ideas into productive ventures. According to him, the curriculum focused on Managerial and administrative skills for entrepreneurs, Personal development skills, Sales and marketing skills, Entrepreneurship and business plan writing, as well as Human resource management and workplace essentials.
While disclosing that over 4,000 people were beneficiaries in the ongoing pilot phase, the Unizik Don, who is also the UBS Deputy Director, said the scheme would also address the unemployment challenges among youths, as well as curb crimes and criminality. He further thanked Prof. Charles Soludo, the Anambra State Governor and Commissioner for Youth Development, Mr. Patrick Mba, for approving and implementing the programme.
The EDI coordinators for Anaocha EDI, Obiageli Madumere; Prof. Clifford Nwanna of Renaissance Modern Polytechnic, Mbaukwu, and Nancy Ekong of ITF Centre, were on ground to receive Prof. Onyeizugbe-led monitoring team.
In their various responses, Obumneme Echetabu, Cynthia Ifesinachi Mosah, Emmanuel Mbonu and Chikaodili Nwafor, thanked the state government and the team for visiting their centers, while averring that the gesture was a confirmation of the genuineness of the programme. They promised to continue to be well-behaved throughout the exercise in order to reap the gains of the training, and the subsequent empowerment benefit of the State Government.
