To improve water supply in Delta State, the state Urban Water Board, in collaboration with the United States Agency For International Development (USAID), is to commence the enumeration of its customers in towns that are currently covered by pipeline network.
The towns are Asaba, Ogwashi Uku, Kwale, Agbor, Ozoro, Ughelli, Bomadi, Sapele, and Orerokpe.
The enumeration, which will be carried out by Fullplan Associate Nigeria Limited, commenced on November 11 and will last five weeks.
The liaison officer of the board, Mrs Ezenwa Ebele, disclosed this at USAID E-WASH Delta State media quarterly roundtable in Asaba.

According to her, at least 65,000 customers will be captured in the network.
She said the data would be for efficient consumption management and to know how much water is produced and supplied, which he said would provide information necessary for future tariff studies and the eventual restructuring of customers’ billing
In his remarks, the general manager of the board, Nosakhoro Idenedo Okonjo, advised journalists to assess the board’s activities for necessary criticism and correction.
The meeting condemned boreholes that were dug close to graves, soakaways, and called on water corporations to be responsive in the discharge of their duties.
