The Dein of Agbor Kingdom, His Majesty, Dr Benjamin Ikenchuku, has commended the Itsekiri nation for the choice of Omoba ‘Tsola Emiko as the Olu-designate of Warri kingdom.
This is coming barely a month before the coronation of Omoba Emiko as the 21st Olu of Warri, succeeding late Ogiame Ikenwoli who passed last December after five years on the throne.
The Dein of Agbor gave the commendation on Wednesday during his visit to Omoba ‘Tsola at Ideniken (his traditional seclusion home) in Warri kingdom, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
HM Ikenchuku, who was on the visit with some of his palace chiefs, said he was certain that the Omoba ‘Tsola, being a good choice, would take the throne of Itsekiri kingdom to greater heights.
According to him, the two kingdoms of Agbor and Warri had always enjoyed a robust relationship from the defunct Bendel State, describing Warri kingdom as his second home.
He lauded chiefs of the Warri Kingdom for their roles in promoting the time-honoured values and norms of the Itsekiri nation.
“I thank all the Chiefs of the Kingdom here. By tradition, this is an Isolation period. It is the blood ties between Agbor and the Warri kingdom that has made it possible for me to be here in this time.of isolation.
“What will be will be. There are only two First Class Kings in Delta, that is the Obi of Agbor and the Olu of Warri. Never embarrass your King, anybody who does, embarrasses himself.
“There is a reason why the Chiefs wear white, the white must never be stained.
“Tradition serves man, tradition is dynamic. The tradition, years ago, may not be so now. We must flow with the time,” he enthused.
Speaking further, HR Ikenchuku admonished all Itsekiri to unite and forge ahead.
“After this period, close ranks with all, bring all close.
“My brother (referring to Omoba ‘Tsola Emiko) and I have a lot to do in Delta State and the Niger Delta.
“You have chosen right. The Almighty God has chosen a good king for you. He will grow the kingdom to greater heights.
“In Delta State, this is my second home,” he added.
Elated Omoba Emiko, who had top chiefs of the Warri Kingdom in attendance including Chief Mene Brown and Iyatsere of Warri Kingdom, later presented a rich historical document as a gift to the visiting monarch.
Omoba Emiko, who has been in seclusion, will be crowned the 21st Olu of Warri on August 21st, 2021.
