Since clinical trials for the COVID-19 vaccines currently in use did not include people who are breastfeeding, there are currently no data available on the effect of the vaccine in lactating people. However, recent reports have shown that breastfeeding people, who have received COVID-19 vaccines, have antibodies in their breastmilk which could help protect their babies. More data are still needed to determine the effect of the Covid vaccine on nursing mothers and what protection these antibodies may provide to the babies.
