The Osun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu on Wednesday disclosed that the state government has concluded arrangements to embarks on COVID-19 testing across all the local governments in the state.
The Commissioner who declared that already, the 73 cases of COVID-19 recorded by the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is the highest so far in the state said, he believed by the time they finished with the COVID-19 testing in these local governments, there was a possibility of an increase in the number of positive cases of the deadly disease in the state.
“The outcome of the exercise would determine the high number of positive cases that might have been recorded in the state saying, this would be an eye-opener for people in the state, that the deadly virus disease does really exist.
Dr Isamotu who stressed that some of the tests that came out positive have now returned negative after treatment had been given to the affected ones.
He, therefore, argued that the directive of the state government mandating all members of its executive council to go for COVID-19 tests and which was fully complied with had yielded positive result as some of the tests that came out positive are now negative.
The commissioner then advised residents of the state to abide by the COVID-19 protocols of wearing face masks in the public, engage in handwashing and constantly using hand sanitisers.
