An Ile-Ife Magistrates Court, Osun, on Monday remanded one Fadire Michael, 29, in the Nigeria Correctional Service Centre Ile-Ife, over alleged raped of a 14-year-old girl.
The Prosecutor, Insp Emmanuel Abdullahi told the court that the accused had carnal knowledge of the minor on Jan 21, 2020, around 06:30 pm at Iloro area of Ile-Ife.
He said the accused raped his victim, knowing very well that she is a minor.
Abdullahi also told the court that the accused conducted himself in a manner that was capable of causing the breach of the peace as he tried to resist arrest.
The prosecutor said Abdullahi’s actions contravened Sections 358 and 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State 2002.

The accused after listening to the charges against him pleaded not guilty, and his counsel, Mr Martins Awe, applied for his bail on most liberal terms.
He added that Abdullahi would not jump bail and would provide substantial sureties.
The Magistrate, Muhibah Olatunji, however, refused to grant the accused bail and ordered that he is remanded in custody.
Olatunji directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward it to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), for legal advice.
The magistrate adjourned the matter to Feb 20, 2020, for further mention.
