A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, remanded a 29-year-old man, Yusuf Aliyu in prison custody for alleged armed robbery and intimidation.
The accused, who lives at Hawan Mai Mashi Village, Kaduna State, is facing a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and intimidation.
Aliyu, however, denied committing the offence.
The prosecutor, Insp Pogu Lale, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 14 at about 10.30 p.m. at Panshekara Quarters, Kano.
He said that the accused person conspired with his other syndicate members now at large; they armed themselves with dangerous weapons such as gun and sticks.
“They entered into the house of one Dr Ahmad Muhammad of Panshekara Quarters, Kano and robbed him of his properties.

“They collected a cash sum of N200,000 and two Techno mobile phones, the value of which is not known yet,” he said.
Lale also said that the accused intimidated the complainant on phone, threatening to kidnap him and in the process, they collected the sum of two million naira from him.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Sections 97, 295 and 397 of the penal code.
Chief Magistrate Muhammad Jibril, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case until June 24 for mention.
