Can the people continue to kowtow to the tyranny of a regime that holds public opinion in contempt? Have we forgotten people like Nelson Mandela who lived and breathed the quest for liberation? Let us consider the issues at stake from the point of view of the danger of a nation becoming marginalised, ritualised, perpetually traumatised, underdeveloped, through lies and deceits by politicians and dominated by a few, unless the people are stirred to action.
This could be the turning point that would check the behavior of failed politicians who concern themselves about power shift from failure to failure at every election cycle. There are many Nigerians with the intellectual clout, who are rightly connected, who cannot be easily ignored by the powers that be, critical thinkers, who can live by action and by example, who consider the journey to bring back the lost glory, the golden days of regionalism; the golden days of prosperity; the groundnut pyramids: the free education legacy: the first this, the first that, in Africa: the palm oil plantations and lots more, worth taking.
This category of Nigerians should not linger on the sidelines anymore but take a stand in times like this and rescue the nation. We need militant and courageous highly enlightened “Activists” who are not supercilious and more concerned with protecting their own interests rather than the interests of the masses but passionate about protecting the interests of the people. The effective way forward is to form a highly organised group of “activists” who cannot be influenced by ethnic `formation of a youth league to help recruit members across the country. The battle cry should be “end impunity now and restructure Nigeria now.
The creed: creating one nation out of many nations where justice, equity, and the rule of law shall rule the waves.
