A cleric, Pastor Samuel Oladele, has enjoined Christian faithful to emulate Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, by staying committed to the course of the Christian faith, despite its inconveniences, as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ this month.
Delivering a sermon at the 2016 Christmas Carol Service, organised by the Christ Apostolic Church, Sheraton Hotel Assembly in Lagos State, Oladele, who is also the General Superintendent of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) worldwide, said that though the circumstances surrounding the birth of Jesus Christ brought some inconveniences to some characters in the Bible, especially Mary, the mother, he believed that the determination of Mary to carry the ‘controversial’ pregnancy, in spite of the general scorn from the public then, made it possible for the world to celebrate Jesus as the saviour today.
“We, as Christians, must learn from this action. We must know that associating with Jesus has its own price. The world will scorn you and you may suffer deprivations in some cases. Some privileges you used to enjoy might give way as a result, but just as Mary refused to abort the pregnancy and hold on, we must be ready to do same,” he counselled.
In his welcome address, Director of Mission, CAC worldwide, Pastor Segun Fasuyi, explained that the Sheraton Assembly of the church was founded a few months ago as a way of depopulating the kingdom of darkness and drawing people within the Maryland-Ikeja axis to Christ.
He added that when fully established, the church would set up a similar assembly on the Island that will cater to the spiritual needs of the people there.
In an interview with TribuneChurch, the Sheraton Assembly Pastor, Olufemi Alesin, explained that the event was put together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, while also intimating the people in the area of the existence of the assembly in the vicinity.
