President Buhari in a message to the church, also urged Nigerians to keep faith with his administration, saying the country’s revived economy will soon bring relief to the people.
In the message signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina and read to the congregation at the grand finale of the week-long celebration, the president said the citizenry would be better for it when the positive impacts of the turn around in the economy started manifesting.
On the occasion of the church’s 25th anniversary, which coincided with its 10th National Convention with the theme: “The Invisible God” President Buhari also thanked Prophet Kumoluyi and the church for their prayers for him during the period of his sickness.
Commending the man of God for his humility, integrity and prayer life, the President described him as a religious leader “known for his love for God and passion for souls”, saying “he is a rare gem as a Shepherd of the church.”
He restated the commitment of the federal government to the wellbeing and welfare of the Nigeria people.
Speaking to newsmen after the event held at the church’s headquarters in Ketu, Lagos State, Prophet Kumoluyi said, “25 years down the line, God had been faithful to the church and the country at large.”
Prophet Kumoluyi, who disclosed that the church had many challenges to contend in the last 25 years of its existence, said “God has been sustaining me and the entire congregation in an unusual way.
“It gladdens my heart to witness the 25th anniversary of the Word Bible Church. Many storms here and there over the years but we have been able to weather the storms through the grace and mercy of God.”
On his assessment of over two years’ President Buhari-led administration, the man of God commended the government’s efforts at ensuring peace and stability in the country.
According to him, “The President has raised the bar in the area of fighting corruption and terrorism. No President in the history of this country had ever done that. The war against corruption under the present administration in the country is second to none.
“My responsibility as a minister of a God is to be praying for whoever puts in the position of authority. He is trying his best to make the country better for all. If God wants him to be in the position as long as he desire, nobody can stop him and if God says no, there is nothing anybody can do about it.”
The cleric who described corruption as cankerworm that has eaten deep into all strata of our society, said the involvement of both political class and non-political class was the major challenge anti-graft fight in the country.
Prophet Kumoluyi who suggested enactment of a law that will impose corporal punishment on anybody found guilty of corruption said such will reduce graft to the barest minimum in the country.
