No fewer than 6,920 newly admitted students of the Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) were formally inducted into the institution on Wednesday, as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Omojola, charged them to uphold discipline, shun social vices and pursue academic excellence.
Speaking during the 2025/2026 matriculation ceremony held at the university’s sports pavilion, Omojola described the occasion as a significant milestone in the academic journey of the fresh students and congratulated them on what he called a well-earned achievement, noting that the ceremony also marked his first matriculation as the newly appointed helmsman of the institution.
He expressed appreciation to the Ekiti State Governor and Visitor to the University, Biodun Oyebanji, for his unwavering support and commitment to the development of the institution.

Omojola also acknowledged the contributions of the Chancellor, Wole Olanipekun, describing his commitment to the university’s vision as invaluable.
The Vice-Chancellor further commended the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Patrick Oladipo Aina, for what he termed exemplary leadership and sacrifice in positioning the university strongly within the comity of universities in Nigeria.
Reiterating the institution’s core values, he said BOUESTI is built on academic excellence, integrity and diversity, with a vision to become a world-class institution known for self-reliance and the production of culturally sound and disciplined researchers committed to societal development.
According to him, the university’s mission is to generate, disseminate and advance knowledge in education, science and technology, with a focus on proffering solutions to societal and global challenges of the 21st century.
He assured the students of access to world-class education, cutting-edge research opportunities and a supportive learning environment, urging them to take full advantage of the resources available on campus.
The VC urged the students to enrol for the federal government loan initiative through the Nigeria Education Loan Fund, so as to lessen the financial burden on their parents and focus on their educational career.
On security and discipline, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the institution places a premium on the safety of lives and property, warning that the university has zero tolerance for moral decadence and vices such as cultism, bullying, cybercrime, examination malpractice, indiscipline and indolence.
Omojola also underscored the management’s commitment to democratic principles, including freedom of expression, urging students to embrace dialogue rather than violence in presenting legitimate demands.
He reminded the matriculating students that by taking the oath of matriculation, they had become lifelong members of the university community, provided they remain faithful to the institution’s rules and values.
