THE Federal Government has challenged Nigerian youths to be ambitious and not to be afraid of taking risks if truly they are set for leadership position.
Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung, who made this known during the inauguration of the newly elected executives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Abuja, said: “if you happen to fail, you will recognise your strengths and limitations and be able to adapt better in the future.”
He stated that when they knew their limit, they could fully maximize their potential, urging them not to allow anyone to discourage them that they could not or achieving something.
Barrister Dalung therefore urged the new executive members to work collectively as a team to achieve the common goal of representing the Nigerian youth effectively.
The minister said their inauguration was a new dawn of the council which could not have come at a better time than now when Nigerian youths needed the NYCN platform to properly project issues concerning their development before the authority.

Dalung further charged them to be goal oriented, organized, committed to the plans of the organization to realize their leadership goals, saying as leaders of the youths in the nation, they should inspire other to take action by showing action, commitment and good work for a better National Youth Council.
“As leaders of the Nigerian youths, you are expected to inspire others to take action by action showing your own action, commitment and good work for a better National Youth Council. By doing that you will make it easy for Nigerian youths to step in and join forces with you in your quest for better welfare for them.
“I want to also advise you to be ambitious and don’t be afraid to take risks. Do not be idealistic. If you happen to fail, you will recognize your strengths and limitations and be able to adapt better in the future. It is only when you know your limit that you can fully maximize your potential.’’
In his speech, the NYCN President, Malam Bello Shagari called for proper representation of youth in politics and governance, describing youth inclusiveness in politics as crucial to good governance and a key to Nigeria development.
He said youth inclusiveness remained panacea to the nation’s development, and when youths are empowered, the nation becomes more vibrant and resourceful.
