Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Y Suleiman has made clarification on the matter of urgent public importance raised by the member representing Ganjuwa East Constituency, Gazali Abubakar Wunti on border crisis in his Constituency saying that there was no report of loss of lives or destruction of properties during the reported attack on people of Buri-buri of Gungura Ward in Ganjuwa Local Government.
While making further clarifications, Gazali Abubakar Wunti explained that during the Tuesday/Wednesday attack on the community, only farm produce were destroyed but there was no loss of lives or properties.
According to him, the loss of lives he mentioned while moving the motion, occured during the previous clashes about four to six months ago in which four people were killed saying that he was misquoted by the press, therefore called on them to accurately report the situation.
Deputy Majority Leader, Baballe Abubakar representing Dambam (Dambam/Dagauda/Jalam Constituency, moved that a Bill for a Law to establish Bauchi State Vigilante and Youth Empowerment Agency should undergo first reading and was seconded by the Minority Leader Hon. Bakoji Aliyu Bobbo (Chiroma Constituency).
Upon approval by the Members after voice vote, the Speaker directed the Clerk of the House, Umar Yusuf Gital to carryout the second reading of the Bill was also carried out in the same manner.
The House referred the Bill to the House Committee on Security for further legislative processes given three weeks to report back as contained in a statement by Abdul Ahmad Burra Spokesperson to the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly.
