Bauchi State Government has presented cars to seven new district heads in the State.
The beneficiaries were also charged to live up to expectations in the discharge of their respective roles for the stability of the state and peaceful coexistence among the people they are ruling.
The government also restated its determination to provide all the needed support that will facilitate activities of traditional and community leaders towards complementing its efforts in ensuring peace and security in the State.
The assertion was made by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Ahmad Aliyu Jalam while speaking on behalf of the Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir during the presentation of brand new operational cars to Seven newly appointed District Heads across the state at the premises of the Government House.
The Commissioner further affirmed that the Governor sees the need to give them the cars so as to curtail the problem of mobility faced by the traditional rulers as this will encourage them in the work of the communities.
The Commissioner called on the leadership of the local governments and the traditional institutions to give their support to the administration in its efforts to develop the state.
He then told them to use the vehicles properly in order to be able to reach their various communities as well as monitor their activities.
Ahmed Aliyu Jalam further said the state government has recognized the role of traditional institutions in addressing various forms of crime and criminality and assured to sustain the effort.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional title holders, the District Head of Jama’are Abubakar Muhammad Wabi appreciated the government for the gesture noting that the move would ease their duties.
He commended Governor Bala Mohammed and the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for recognizing traditional institutions in government policies and programmes.
He promised that they will always comply towards the security and safety of their people for further growth and development of Bauchi State
The beneficiaries of the car gifts included District Heads of Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area, Jawo in Katagum local government and Akuyam in Misau local government.
Others are District Heads of Jama’are, Hanafari, Galdimari and Dogon Jeji all in Jama’are local government area of the State.
