With less than four weeks to the general election, music star, Banky W, who is contesting for a seat in the lower chamber of the National Assembly, has bemoaned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for misspelling his name and party’s logo on the ballot paper.
Banky, who is a successful musician, announced his intention last year to run for the House of Representatives on the platform of the Modern Democratic Party (MDP) in Lagos State.
On Thursday, Banky W, on Instagram called out the electoral body over its error saying the wrong logo was allocated to his party, while his name was also misspelt.
The musician said it turned out that the logo that would show for MDP on the election day ballot papers was wrong.
“We have tried every possible option to see if the ballot papers can be reprinted, but that is unfortunately not possible. So we move on. No sense crying over spilled milk. The good news is we are on the ballot paper. You will see “Modern Democratic party” on the ballot with this new logo.”
Banky said he would not be deterred by any obstacle and promsied to focus on the finsih line and forge ahead.
“ We will not be discouraged. We will focus on the finish line and forge ahead. No weakness. No regrets. #MDP #STRONGERTOGETHER #BANKONBANKY PS: My last name was also misspelled, but that’s a non-issue because you won’t see candidate names on the election day; just party names, acronyms, and logos. Please remember the Modern Democratic Party. God bless you,” he said.
