Bandits kill 12 military officers in Zamfara

At least, 12 military officers have been feared dead in Zamfara State, following an attack on a military base, on Saturday.

It was gathered that the bandits had attacked a military base at Mutumji, Dansadau, about 80 kilometres south of the capital, Gusau, at about 10:30 a.m.

It was learnt that the 12 fatalities, comprising nine Nigerian Air Force officers, two police officers, and one Nigerian Army soldier.

A source who pleaded anonymity said all the slain personnel were evacuated to Yerima Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau and the three wounded have been receiving treatments at a brigade medical facility.

The attackers also seized weapons from the killed service members and set ablaze other equipment in the facility.

As at the time of filing the report, there was no confirmation from the Nigerian Army or any security agencies.
