Babcock University, located in Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State, has awarded Emmanuel Oluwanifemi a certificate of excellence for achieving the highest mark (357 out of 400) in the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) among newly admitted students.
The university also recognized Eniola Kujenya, Adigwu Isaac, and Osaite Arigbe-Osula, who scored 14 out of 15 points in their 2022 JUPEB program, as well as Chukwuemeka Anene, who attained the highest CGPA of 4.76 out of 5.0 in the university’s pre-degree program, with certificates of excellence.
The awards were presented during the matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted students for the 2022/2023 academic session, totalling 3,627 individuals.
In his address to the students, the President/Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Tayo Ademola, congratulated them and their parents, commending their decision to pursue higher education at Babcock University. He emphasized that the university aims to train students to become agents of positive change and problem solvers in society.
Prof Ademola assured the students that the university is committed to equipping them with knowledge, skills, and good character that are highly regarded in society. He stated that all the courses and programs offered by the university are accredited by relevant bodies such as the National Universities Commission (NUC), International Board of Education (IBE) USA, and the Adventist Accrediting Association (AA), USA, among others. This accreditation is one of the reasons why Babcock University is one of the preferred universities in the country for students to pursue their studies. He promised that the university would continue to support their academic aspirations and celebrate virtues such as integrity, hard work, and godly conduct among the students.
However, Prof Ademola cautioned the students against engaging in social vices such as hooliganism, cultism, bullying, examination misconduct, stealing, drug addiction, and other undesirable behaviours. He emphasized that the university maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards such activities.
In his remarks, Prof Philemon Amanze, the Senior Vice President of Academics, urged the students to focus on their studies and fulfil their responsibilities to ensure they graduate in a timely manner with good grades.
