
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Prince Dapo Abiodun, as the governorship candidate of the party in Ogun State.
The party in a statement posted on its twitter handle@APCNigeria signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, said that Abiodun, won the election primary held on Wednesday October 3,with a total number of 102,305 votes.
The party said that other aspirants Jimi Lawal polled 51,153; Kunle Akinlade 23, 443; Bimbo Ashiru 29, 764; Senator Adegbenga Kaka 17, 771 while Abayomi Semako Koroto polled 9, 610.
Meanwhile, Abiodun, in his acceptance speech, said all those who vied for the governorship ticket of the party were eminently qualified, and urged all his co-contestants to put their differences aside in the overall interest of the party.
He emphasised the need for the party to emerge victorious in the general elections, hence, the reason for them to pull forces together in achieving this.
“With utmost humility, I Prince Adedapo Abiodun, hereby accept the historic mandate bestowed on me yesterday by the members of our great party as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State for 2019.
“I do not see this victory as mine but that of our great party and the good people of our dear state – Ogun State.”
When contacted, the state chairman of the party, Chief Derin Adebiyi declined comment when asked for the reaction of the party on the declaration of Abiodun, as the candidate of the party.
He said, “No comment for now.”
