A socio-political group, Rescue Mission Youth Vanguard, has dismissed recent allegations that the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, is engaged in anti-party activities, saying the allegations are “baseless, unsubstantiated and lack any shred of credible evidence”.
According to the group, some individuals who appear to be reinventing themselves under different names, have been making unsubstantiated claims against Lokpobiri over the past two months, executing a coordinated effort to disparage the Minister’s unwavering dedication to the betterment of the nation’s oil and gas sector.
A group, Bayelsa APC Progressive Movement for Good Leadership and Governance, had on Tuesday in an open letter to President Bola Tinubu accused Lokpobiri of anti-party activities by fighting against the candidature of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa, Chief Timipre Sylva.
But the Rescue Mission Youth Vanguard, in a statement issued via electronic mail on Tuesday and signed by its Secretary, Apostle Ebilo Olomu, said “Let us state unequivocally that Senator Heineken Lokpobiri has been diligently committed to enhancing the nation’s production levels in his capacity as the Honorable Minister of State, Petroleum Resources (Oil).
“He has worked tirelessly to advance the interests of our great nations, and his actions have always been in alignment with the principles and objectives of our President and Party Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and our great party, the APC.
“Despite the false narratives being propagated, it is common knowledge that Senator Lokpobiri is not only a loyal member of the APC but has consistently championed unity and cohesion within the state chapter of our party.
“He has remained steadfast in promoting and pursuing the APC’s agenda at all levels of government. Any suggestion to the contrary is utterly baseless and devoid of truth.”
The group stressed that Lokpobiri cannot be coerced into engaging in theatrical antics merely orchestrated to appear that he is not working, noting that his record speaks for itself.
The group also called on all APC faithful in the state and across the nation to disregard the allegations, saying “It is our collective responsibility to stand together and support leaders like Senator Heineken Lokpobiri who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to our party and our nation.
“We trust that these baseless accusations will not deter the Honorable Minister from his mission to improve the Nigerian oil and gas sector for the benefit of all citizens.”
