THE governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State, Mr Hakeem Alao, has felicitated with Muslims and the people of Oyo State on the occasion of this year’s Eid-al-Adha celebration.
In a statement in Ibadan, the Oman-based oil magnate urged Muslims to use the celebration as a means of praying for Oyo State and Nigeria in general.
He described the problems facing the country as surmountable and charged government at all levels to do more, especially on the security of lives and property.
“The challenges of security are global but government at all levels must sit up to ensure rascals do not impede the growth of our nation,” he said.
Alao described as worrisome, the persistent ethnic and tribal colouration of security in the country and urged citizens to refrain from ethnicising and attributing crimes to a particular tribe as if it is peculiar to a certain tribe or ethnic.
“I am worried at the ethnic dimension crimes have taken in the country. The act of labelling a particular section of the country with every crime committed of recent has made crimes to fester as many criminals are now going scot-free. Arbitrary reports of crime should stop so all criminals can answer for their crimes,” he added.
On the prevailing peace in Oyo State, Alao commends Governor Seyi Makinde for sustaining the peace plan of his predecessor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
He, however, appealed to Governor Makinde not to release the administration of motor parks back to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

“While I commend Governor Makinde in the sustenance of peace in the state, it is imperative to state that the government should not return the administration of motor parks back to the NURTW. As a comrade, I see no big deal in allowing the organisation to continue its operations as a union but not as a revenue generation authority for the government,” he noted.
Alao also noted that “free education is indispensable but the government should do all it can to generate more funds internally as the current revenue structure of Oyo State cannot sustain free education not to talk of other aspects of governance.”
While felicitating with the traditional rulers and religious leaders in the state, the AD chieftain prayed for peace and prosperity of Oyo State and Nigeria.
