THE remains of the late governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, arrived at the Muritala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos, on Friday afternoon.
The body was received by the widow, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the children and siblings led by Professor Wole Akeredolu, the deceased’s immediate younger brother.
Top officials of the state government were on hand to receive the body with the family.
Others who received the body of Akeredolu include the Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde; and the Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tokunbi Talabi. The representative of the Osun State governor, Senator Demola Adeleke also joined in receiving the body.
The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Mr Ade Adetimehin; a member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Gboyega Adefarati and some members of the Ondo State Executive Council, led by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, were also present at the airport to receive the body of the late governor.
The family members, followers, friends and associates could not control their emotions as the body was being lowered from the plane.
Akeredolu died in Germany on December 26, 2023 while on a medical vacation.
His remains have been deposited at the morgue pending the burial. Details of the burial arrangements will be announced by the family.
