Aide dispels rumoured attack on Imo Assembly Speaker

Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Dr Alex Onyebuchi, has debunked the rumour making rounds that the Speaker of the Assembly, Paul Emeziem, was attacked and kidnapped by alleged hoodlums on Wednesday.

Onyebuchi, in a statement issued, on Thursday, stated that the Speaker was safe, sound and committed to discharging his duties for the good of Imolites and the state.

He said: “It is merely a rumour and nothing more.”

He said that the Speaker was nowhere near any attack, adding that the said attack only existed in the imagination of those behind it.

He expressed the speaker’s appreciation to all who had reached out to him mainly through calls and SMS over the rumour.

According to him, the intention of those behind the rumour was to distract him, insisting that the Speaker would not because he was deeply committed to delivering effective representation and leadership to the good people of the state.

Recalled that the Speaker was said to have been attacked and kidnapped in the state by unknown bandits.

When contacted the Imo State Command Public Relations Officer, CSP Michael Abatham, dismissed the rumour, adding that he had no such information regarding such incident.
