Adamawa State Governor, Umaru Finitiri has formally agreed to the clarion call by groups and originations to vie for the Governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to enable him to seek reelection for a second term.
It could be recalled that over 40 non-governmental groups had last week purchased and presented the nomination forms to the Governor at Government House.
On Monday, Umaru Finitiri shortly after the inauguration of the newly elected chairmen of all the 21 local government area Councils in the state at the Mamudu Ribadu Square said that “it is no longer news that the nomination forms for Adamawa gubernatorial race of our party have been picked for me.”
He stressed that “Because we have done so much and there is more to be done to better a lot of our people and our dear State.”
He further said, “because we have built a trusting relationship with the electorates, majority of whom are the masses where our support (both in votes and prayers) is derived because our party needs to continue on the path of victory.”
“My dear people of Adamawa State, after very wide consultation within our great party within the state and outside, my family, friends, associates and leaders, I wish to formally inform you that I have accepted to offer myself yet again, to seek for the endorsement of our Great Party, the PDP, to carry its flag in the 2023 governorship race of Adamawa State,” the Governor declared.
According to him, “I believe you can trust me again as you have done before, there is indeed nothing about me that either you or the entire citizens of Adamawa State do not know.”
The governor added that “I have started the crusade for reinventing a new Adamawa where no one is left behind and nothing is left untouched.”
In the same vein, former Governor, Umaru Jibrila Bindow has also formally declared his intentions to vie for the Governorship ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Adamawa State.
Jibrilla Bindow who made the declaration Monday in Yola said that he is out for the ticket of the party to enable him to complete those things he could not do when he was Governor of the state in the first tenure.
He called on the party officials to prevail on other aspirants for the governorship ticket in the party to step down for him.
According to him, “I have been Governor before, I know where I have got it wrong, I own up and I am willing to make amends if given the chance and am also ready to pick my deputy as my running mate.”
He pleaded, “Please forgive me, I am only but human, but I hope to adjust and right all the wrongs if given the opportunity again.”
The former governor who had a massive turnout of his followers was accompanied to the APC Secretariat by his former deputy governor, Engr. Martins Babale, former Senator Binta Masi and some former national Assembly members.
Jibrilla Bindow is the fourth Governorship Aspirant that has so far declared to vie for the ticket of the All Progressive Congress party in Adamawa State.
