The Restored Health Foundation (RHF) has described achieving access to basic healthcare, especially in Nigeria’s underserved communities, as topmost among its priorities in 2023.
The organisation stated that one of its focuses has been to promote good health and wellbeing in Nigeria, adding that this is responsible for its keen interest in ensuring equal access to healthcare.
This was disclosed by Mr. Samuel Oluwatimilehin, Founder/Executive Director of the organisation, while speaking after an outreach tagged: “Gwarinpa Medical Outreach” in commemoration of the 2023 World Health Day, held on April 1st, at Primary Health Care Centre, Gwarinpa Village.
Speaking about the event which featured 7 volunteer Medical Doctors and over 20 medical assistants, crowd control, monitoring and evaluation volunteers, Oluwatimilehin explained that over 200 community members were able to get personal consultations with the onsite doctors, basic test and medical prescriptions where necessary while the organisation also donated drugs for various purposes to the local primary health care centre.
He said, “As an organization, we have a keen interest in ensuring equal access to healthcare, especially in underserved communities across the country. This is why we have absorbed the SDG 3 action points into our programmatic thrust; making it one of our focuses to promote good health and wellbeing in Nigeria.”
The Founder of RHF added that the organisation’s medical outreach is aimed at addressing the challenges of low awareness and access to quality primary health care in low-income Nigerian communities.
“After a careful assessment of the current health situation in some parts of the country, we discovered that a lot of persons in low-income communities lack access to quality primary healthcare and due to the low awareness on quality health care, most community members don’t pay attention to their personal health. However, the Medical Outreach Programme seeks to address these challenges faced by the community members.; and we look forward to impacting more communities and assisting Primary Healthcare Centres in ensuring good health and wellbeing across the country,” Oluwatimilehin added.
