Kwara State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of a Chinese national, Mr. PengChao Zhang (also known as Williams Kaka amongst his business associates), who was kidnapped 10 days ago in Eyenkorin, Ilorin.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, said that the rescue was effected in the early hours of Monday, March 19 through the command’s teams and vigilantes.
It is recalled that the Chinese national was abducted at a guest house located at Eyenkorin, the outskirts of Ilorin, the last state capital, on March 10, 2024, when six armed men forcefully took him away to an unknown destination.
The statement, which said that the man had been reunited with his family unharmed, added that the rescue underscored the commitment of the state Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors within the state.

“Kwara State Police Command is pleased to announce a significant breakthrough in the recent kidnapping incident that occurred in Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, Kwara State. On the 10th of March, 2024, six armed men forcefully abducted Mr PengChao Zhang (also known as Williams Kaka amongst his business associates), a Chinese national who Lodged at Cherish Guest House Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, sparking concerns and fear within the community.
“Through diligent and coordinated efforts, the Command’s Tactical Teams and vigilante executed a series of strategic search and investigations leading to the safe rescue of the victim in the early hours of 19th March, 2024.
“The command is pleased to confirm that the victim has since been reunited with his family unharmed. This achievement underscores the unwavering commitment of the Kwara State Police Command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents and visitors within the state.
“The Kwara State Police Command, under the undaunted and excellent leadership of the Commissioner of Police CP Victor OLAIYA (psc+), remains steadfast in pursuing justice and holding accountable those responsible for such criminal act. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly”.
