THE Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria has revealed that over 83.2 per cent of teachers passed the recent professional qualifying examination conducted by the council in 33 states of the federation.
Registrar of the Council, Professor Josiah Ajiboye, said in Abuja that the result was encouraging, adding that it was an indication that all hope was not lost in the concerted efforts to restore the lost glory of teachers in Nigeria.
The teachers sat for the 2018 (May diet) professional qualifying examination in the 33 states of the federation in line with the desire of the federal government to ensure teacher professionalism.
Ajiboye said the examination, which held from Thursday, 7th June and Saturday, 9th June, 2018, had a total number of 21,882 candidates cleared for the examination, while only 16,611 candidates eventually sat for the examination across the various Computer Based Test Centres in the federation.

He said, “The result of the 2018 May diet of the teachers’ professional qualifying examination was an indication that all hopes are not lost over the moves towards restoring the lost glory of education in Nigeria.
“This year, we have recorded a resounding success in the conduct of the examination in the 33 states and FCT with 42 centres as scheduled for the batch ‘A’ examination.”
He, therefore, called on candidates to check on the TRCN website; www.trcn.gov.ng or visit the TRCN State offices for their results from 29th June, 2018.
He further clarified that the list released by the council contains only the names of candidates who were successful in the examination.
