The final moments we share with our friends in the university can be emotional. As graduation approaches, students find themselves wondering when they will all be together again. For some, the friendship will continue through regular phone calls and messages. For others, busy schedules, relocation, and the demands of adulthood may gradually create distance.

After years of attending lectures together, preparing for examinations, working on assignments, and creating memories across campus, the reality that everyone is about to begin a different chapter can be difficult to accept. While the future holds new opportunities, the final days on campus also present a chance to make lasting memories with the people who have been part of the journey.

In this article Tribune online suggests seven activities friends can do in their final year to make their last days on campus memorable.

Picnic hangout

A simple picnic can be one of the best ways for friends to spend time together before graduation. Whether it is on campus, at a park,  a picnic creates space for conversations, laughter, games, photographs, and reflection on the journey so far.

Unlike formal events, it allows everyone to relax and enjoy each other’s company without pressure.

Sip and paint date

Sip and paint sessions have become increasingly popular among young people because they combine creativity with social interaction. Friends can spend a few hours painting, taking pictures, listening to music, and creating keepsakes to remember their final year. The artwork may not be perfect, but the memories often last much longer.

Campus photo tour

Before leaving school, friends can visit the places that defined their university experience and take photographs. From lecture halls and hostels to favourite relaxation spots and department buildings, these locations often carry memories that become more meaningful after graduation.

One last food adventure

Every friendship group usually has restaurants, bukas, cafés, or food vendors they frequented during their years in school. Final year is the perfect time to revisit those places or try new ones together. Good food often comes with good conversations and memorable moments.

Organise a campus bucket list challenge

Every campus has places, traditions, and experiences that students often postpone until it is almost time to leave. The final year offers an opportunity to create a campus bucket list and complete it with friends.

This could involve visiting iconic locations on campus, attending major student events, trying popular food spots, participating in recreational activities, or taking photographs at memorable landmarks.

Movie night and sleepover

A movie marathon combined with a sleepover can feel surprisingly special in the final weeks before graduation. It gives friends one more opportunity to enjoy the routines and closeness that university life made possible.

Create a friendship time capsule

Friends can write letters to their future selves, include photographs, predictions, goals, and favourite memories, then agree on a future date to open them. It is a thoughtful activity that connects the present with the future.

Why these moments matter

The transition from student life to the professional world often changes routines, priorities, and geographical locations. While friendships may continue, opportunities to spend extended periods together frequently become less common.

The experiences created during this period often become lasting memories that remain meaningful years after graduation. More importantly, these moments serve as a reminder that education is not only about earning a degree. It is also about the relationships, experiences, and personal growth that occur along the way.
