Members of various support groups for the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 General Elections in Bauchi State have been urged to unite and collaborate in order to build a strong party.
This call was made on Saturday during an Iftar (fast-breaking meal) organized for members, particularly Muslims observing the Holy Month of Ramadan, which coincided with the 40 days of Christian Lent.
The Chairman of the State NLC Commission, Comrade Sani Garba, emphasized that unity of purpose, mutual understanding, and collaboration are essential for the LP to become a formidable opposition force, which has been lacking in the country.
He expressed optimism about the LP’s future in the nation’s political landscape, highlighting its widespread presence across the country and noting that what is needed is proper coordination.
Also speaking at the event, the State Chairman of TUC, Muhammad Sabiu Barau, represented by his Vice Chairman, Mukhtar Atta, praised the dedication of LP members in the state before, during, and after the 2023 General Elections.
He remarked that the LP was the only party to secure an election victory in Bauchi State, despite not fielding a candidate in the region, underscoring the party’s accountability and effectiveness.
Mr. Michael Odumegu (Sarkin Yaki Obi), a significant stakeholder in the Bauchi State Obidient Movement, assured participants that all the various support groups would work together as one entity to achieve the LP’s objectives. He commended the state leadership for maintaining party unity despite attempts by a few individuals to create divisions.
He urged party members to focus on future goals, particularly the preparations for the 2027 General Elections, which he stated have already begun following the conclusion of the 2023 elections.
During the occasion, Chairman of the Bauchi State Obi/Datti Coalition, Abel Musa, explained that the Iftar was organized to celebrate with Muslims during the 2025 Holy Month of Ramadan.
He stressed that, “As we gather today to break our fast, on behalf of Dr Tanko Yunusa, the Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide and Comrade Maigari Enna of the Directorate of Mobilisation, I am honored to address you as the Chairman of the ObiDatti Coalition, Bauchi State.”
According to him, “This momentous occasion is not just about replenishing our bodies, but also about rejuvenating our spirits and reaffirming our commitment to a better Nigeria.”
“We acknowledge the invaluable contributions of His Excellency, Peter Obi to the national discourse. His visionary leadership, integrity, and passion for a new Nigeria have inspired a movement that transcends geographical, ethnic, and religious boundaries.”
“As Obidients, we are proud to be part of this movement, driven by the conviction that a better Nigeria is possible,” he added.
Abel Musa stressed that, “Here in Bauchi, we are fully Obidient, united in our quest for positive change. We recognize that our diversity is our strength, and we are committed to working together to build a brighter future for all Nigerians.”
He stressed also that, “As we break our fast, let us remember to pray for our beloved country. Let us pray for wisdom, guidance, and protection for our leaders. Let us pray for peace, unity, and prosperity to reign in our land.”
“In the spirit of Ramadan, let us also reflect on the values of compassion, empathy, and kindness. Let us strive to be the change we wish to see in Nigeria, by being good neighbors, responsible citizens, and conscientious stewards of our resources,” he admonished.
The Obedient Coalition Chairman added that, “As we move forward, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to the Obidient movement. Let us continue to mobilize, organize, and educate ourselves and others about the urgent need for transformative change in Nigeria.”
He concluded stating that, “Together, we can achieve greatness. Together, we can build a Nigeria that works for all. Together, we can make our dreams a reality.”
