NIGERIA’S main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed confidence that it will emerge victorious at the 2019 polls in Bauchi and reclaim the seat it lost to the APC in 2015.
The optimism was expressed by the Publicity Secretary of the party in the State, Yayanuwa Zainabari while speaking to Tribuneonline on Wednesday declaring that the electorates in Bauchi State are dissatisfied with the performance of the APC led administration in the state which he said has failed woefully.
He added that in all the places they went to campaign, the people are expressing regrets for voting in the APC in 2015 pointing out that they have now realized that those they voted for are only interested in enriching themselves and not working for the people.
The PDP spokesperson berated the APC administration for ineptitude and lack of focus in the art of governance saying, “imagine a 3km road embarked upon but yet to be done. The administration has nothing to show up in terms of development. The administration has failed woefully and we will chase it out in sha Allah.”

On the imbroglio in the judiciary, Yayanuwa Zainabari said that “the President got it wrong by suspending the CJN, Walter Onnoghen without following the rules and due process of the law. I will advise him to do the needful by rescinding his decision and restore him”.
Asked if the PDP is satisfied with the preparations by INEC for the elections, the PDP spokesperson said that the electoral umpire from all indications is ready to deliver a free, fair and acceptable election warning however that it should not be allowed itself to be distracted by selfish politicians who are not willing to endure peace in the country.
Speaking specifically about the Bauchi election he said, “the National Chairman of INEC is a son of the soil and I am confident that he will not allow anyone to rubbish his hard-earned reputation. He will ensure that the elections are conducted freely and fairly.”
He then warned that the PDP will not sit down and watch electoral malpractice saying that the party will guard its votes and ensure that it counts no matter what happens assuring however that members of the party will not engage in anything that will derail the electoral process.
