Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has warned students in the state not to allow themselves be used for political thuggery and violence during the forthcoming elections.
Amosun pleaded with Ogun youths to steer clear of any attempt aimed at luring them into any form of activities that will disrupt the peace enjoyed in the state particularly before, during and after the general elections.
The governor stated this at a student leaders meeting held at his Abeokuta residence following the appointment of the state special assistant on students matters, Olusegun Clement as the State Coordinator of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Youth Campaign.
Governor Amosun thanked the student leaders for remaining law-abiding and for being among the young people who have continued to make the state proud.
He said: “Firstly, I must thank all of you for your support and the fact that you have comported yourselves in good manners that portray us as Ogun State.

“For me, it is a mixture of sweet and sour, because it is not all that we wanted to do that we have been able to do but in all, we must thank God for how far he has helped us.
“Sometimes when you get involved in politics, I feel somehow because truly you might want to get involved in what concerns you, your state and your future but you must do it responsibly.
“You must ensure that you do not get involved in anything that has to do with violence most especially political thuggery because Ogun State has gone beyond all those horrible times and we must sustain the dignity that we are now known for,” Amosun said.
Clement who spoke on behalf of the students, thanked Governor Amosun for his guidance and fatherly role to the students, stressing that the opportunity given to him to propagate the re-election bid of the President is a rare one.
He said, “I must thank God and my principal, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for giving me this opportunity to serve in the capacity of a Special Assistant at a time when Ogun State is now recording remarkable achievements.
“All I will say for our sake is that may God preserve the life of Senator Ibikunle Amosun so as to continue to be our father who we can always run to,” Clement said.
