AN aspirant for the Ondo State House of Assembly under the platform of Young Democratic Party(YDP), Mr Oladeji Ebisemiju, has promised to give priority to education, saying education development will be the main focus of his administration if elected in 2019.
Ebisemiju who is contesting for the seat of the Ilaje constituency 1 in Ondo State House of Assembly, made this promise while declaring his ambition to contest for the seat.
Ebisemiju noted that education remains the only key towards any meaningful development for any community saying he would ensure that deserved attention is given to education in the area, lamenting the deplorable state of education in Ilaje area.
He promised to use 25 percent of his annual salary to support the development of education in the area, especially for primary and secondary pupils in the Ilaje community and also to train unemployed youths on vocational skills in Ilaje constituency 1.
He said: “last week at Ugbo-nla and Ode-ugbo, we distributed school kits to about 85 primary school students. The school kits include a branded school bag, water bottle and school sandals
“To consolidate to what we have been doing, we are ready to continue to do more to better the lives of our people in Ilaje local government.”
Ebisemiju, who frowned over the deplorable state of infrastructural facilities in Ilaje, lamented that the area had not witnessed any meaningful development since the advent of this political dispensation.
He noted that the level of poverty had been on the increase, saying schools and hospital were not functioning despite being the only oil community area of the State.

“We have been abandon in the scheme of government both at the Federal Government and State level, the health system is not functioning very well, the roads are bad, our school are not functioning and our children are dying of diarrhea and cholera everyday.
“Yet we call ourselves as the only oil producing community in the whole of the State and we have nothing to show for it. With all these, i think we deserved more than what we have been giving.
“Let me assure our people, if elected, we will work with relevant authorities to ensure that riverine communities are connected to the national grid after 10 years of being in darkness.”
Also speaking, Mr Georgina Dakpokpo, the National Chairman of YDP, said that the party was established on ideology to build youths and women in order to rescue the country during the 2019 general election.
Dakpokpo, who was represented by Mr Leye Ogunseyi, the State Chairman of YDP in Ekiti, said that youths and women across the country have been sidelined in the scheme of governance while they made up of more than 65 percent of electorates.
He said: “It is time for our youths and women must come together and shun politics of money and put power beside to have a way of change the governance.
“In a level playing ground where there is a free and fair election, where the electorates are allowed to express and vote according to their conscience, a credible candidate will be voted for and we will have a better Nigeria.
“Our political atmosphere should be free of vote buying or money politicking to strengthen our growing democracy.”
