Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has announced sack of two commissioners.

Zulum, on Thursday, announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, sacking two commissioners of their duties and appointing new individuals to their portfolios, along with a new head for the State Secondary Education Board.

The announcement was made in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Dauda Iliya, on Thursday.

The commissioners affected by the cabinet change are Engr. Emat Kois, formerly Commissioner for Environment, and Hon. Tukur Ibrahim, who served as Commissioner for Intergovernmental and Special Duties.

Governor Zulum expressed his appreciation for their contributions and wished them well in their future endeavours.

To fill these vacancies, Engr. Mohammed Habib has been appointed to replace Engr. Emat Kois, and Ibrahim Hala Hassan will take over from Hon. Tukur Ibrahim. These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Borno State House of Assembly.

In a related development, Governor Zulum also approved the appointment of Professor Yusuf Gana Balami as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Secondary Education Board. Professor Balami, a Professor of Education Psychology, hails from Hawul in the southern part of the state.

His extensive career in education began with the Borno State Ministry of Education from 1984 to 1988, after which he joined the University of Maiduguri as a graduate assistant, rising to the rank of professor in 2014. Professor Balami is a member of several professional bodies and has authored numerous publications.

Governor Zulum congratulated Professor Balami and urged him to leverage his vast experience as both an administrator and an academic to enhance the quality of secondary education across Borno State.
