The College of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe in Zamfara State and the State Police Command have confirmed the abduction of four students.
The Police also confirmed that a victim escaped after the armed bandits invaded off-campus area 11, which is outside the school.
It was gathered that the escaped female student, Jamila Salisu is the daughter of a police officer in the state.
An authority in the College who prayed for anonymity told Tribune Online that terrorists have invaded a residence of students, which is off-campus, area 11 in Tsafe town and abducted five students where one of them a female escaped while on transit to the abductors’ den.
The incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday around 3 am when the abductors arrived at the compound and started knocking on doors one after the others.
“The unlucky students opened their doors not knowing it was hoodlums that invaded the compound.”
He revealed that those abducted included two females and two males studying community health, dentistry and pharmacy in the college.
He said there was a heavy presence of security personnel at the main campus, “this could have been the reason they may not have had access to the main hostel of the college”.
When contacted, the spokesman of the Zamfara State Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu confirmed the incident, adding that it happened outside the school.
SP Shehu said the command has sent a police tactical operatives with a search and rescue team to ensure the safe return of the abducted students.
He maintained that normalcy has since returned in Tsafe town and its environs.
