Managing Director of Hydro Power Producing Area Development Commission (HYPPADEC), Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, has said that Yauri town, the headquarters of Yauri Emirate in Kebbi State, is to enjoy four million cubic water supply daily from September.
Yelwa, while briefing journalists at the end of his assessment tour to the construction of the three- point areas where the water tanks were erected in Yauri town, averred that he was satisfied with the level the the water project has attained.
The HYPPADEC boss said when completed, the water supply project will undoubtedly meet the daily water needs of the people of the town and its adjoining environments.
“By July 31, the project would have been completed, but for some technical hitches, we encountered due to importation processes, it will now take up till September before the project would finally be handed over to us,” he said.
On the reasons behind setting up of the HYPPADEC project in Yauri town among other HYPPADEC states, the managing director said, “Yauri and New Bussa in Niger State are two major towns where Niger River Dam Authority has an agreement with the community that it will provide them electricity and pipeborne water.’’
Yelwa appealed to the people of the area to take the project as their own, and pay the monthly dues needed for the provision of daily water needs.
